Warner Bros Entertainment will now be able to use the award-winning Unreal Engine 3 game system after concluding an agreement with Epic Games.
The software can now be used by any of Warner Bros' development teams until 2014, meaning that PC, console and mobile platforms are all set to benefit from the game engine.
Two of the teams that will be able to take advantage of the program are NetherRealm and Rocksteady.
Samantha Ryan, senior vice-president of production and development at Warner Bros, said: "Unreal Engine 3 is one of the leading development tools available for today's creative teams and it is a perfect fit for both NetherRealm and Rocksteady."
Two of the upcoming games that utilise the software are Batman: Arkham City and Mortal Kombat.
Gameloft also recently confirmed that it will use Unreal Engine 3 for four new games. Half of these will be released in 2011 and the other two will hit the market in 2012.
